Character of the Collection

The collection here reflects mostly the same character one would find in any Coptic institution that currently has a manuscript library. It also reflects the general character of most of the manuscripts produced in Egypt in the last several centuries, i.e. liturgical. Even though some of the topics would be considered biblical, literary, or hagiographic, but the internal evidence indicates that they served a liturgical function. This applies to most but not all the manuscripts in the collection at the present time.
