Miscellaneous. This is a single paper note attached to the collection. It indicates that the above lot of manuscripts was brought from Egypt by Rev. Robert Mosley Master in 1819. The note also indicates that it was inspected by an official of the British Library in 1886. This official was none other than Sir Peter Le Page Renouf (1822-1897), Keeper of the Oriental Antiquities in the British Museum. He pronounced as "A Collection of Books of Prayers". This pronouncement may have been intended to clear this lot for an auction because the British Museum was not interested in it. |
